Lovely Lakes and Hallstatt

This morning we’ll make our way to the postcard-pretty Lake Hallstatt. On our way, we’ll stop at the mountain retreat of Kaiservilla, where Emperor Franz Josef signed the declaration that kicked off World War I. Next, we’ll skip like stones across the pristine waters of Austria’s Salzkammergut lake district on a boat cruise, enjoying the breathtaking lakeside villages and craggy mountain vistas. This afternoon we’ll settle into our cozy lakeside lodging, where you’ll be free to commune with Mother Nature on foot or by boat — or hike up to one of the world’s oldest salt mines. This evening we’ll gather to share dinner together.  Light walking: 2–4 miles throughout the day on mostly level terrain. Bus: 2 hours. Sleep on Lake Hallstatt.

Directly off the bus we boarded a boat the toured the lake. The weather was gorgeous as we enjoyed coffee while seeing the sights on the water. The boat ride ended at our hotel: Seehotel Grüner Baum. This hotel was “over the top” beautiful. We would have enjoyed several weeks at this place.
